Landed on Friday at 18:15, dinner in Mitte. Berlin has a different neighbourhood for every day.
Brandenburg Gate and Museum Island
From the Brandenburg Gate, walk along Unter den Linden to Museum Island: five museums on an island in the Spree, a Unesco World Heritage Site.
East Side Gallery and the Spree
The longest surviving stretch of the Wall is now an open-air gallery on the banks of the Spree. A little upstream, the Molecule Man stands in the water.
Kreuzberg and Tempelhof Field
Cross the Oberbaum Bridge to Kreuzberg, with its markets, cafés and bars. Tempelhof Field, the old airport, is now open space for cycling and picnics.
Berlin by the water
In summer, Berlin goes swimming. Strandbad Wannsee has been open since 1907 and has 1,275 metres of sandy beach, one of the largest inland lidos in Europe. The largest lake in the city is the Müggelsee, at 7.4 square kilometres.
Forest, parks and farmland make up about a third of the city, so green space is rarely far away, even between two meetings.
More than 175 museums
Ancient art on Museum Island, technology, film, the history of the Wall: Berlin has more than 175 museums. On a rainy day, the hard part is choosing.
A city of neighbourhoods
Berlin covers about 891 square kilometres and feels like many places rather than one: every Kiez, as Berliners call their neighbourhood, has its own cafés, shops and markets. The best way to get to know one is on foot, between old apartment buildings and street trees.

Bodensee Airport has its own railway station, and it is only a few minutes from the car park to the gate.

Friedrichshafen
A trade fair city and industrial hub right on Lake Constance, with the airport next to the exhibition grounds. On holiday you're soon by the lake, in the mountains or on a boat to Lindau, Konstanz and Meersburg.
